Apple has unveiled the redesign of its website today, killing the addition of the Apple Store from the homepage.
Apple has chosen to get rid of the online shop entirely, so when users choose to search ‘www.apple.com/uk/shop’ on Google they will now be redirected to the ‘www.apple.com/uk’ homepage instead.
Now, there’s a shopping bag icon at the top of the menu on the right-hand side, which informs users of their order status.
The shopping bag also displays information about products users have favourited, as well as products they are considering to buy.
The process to make a purchase remains simple enough – once a product is selected the website takes you to your shopping bag where you can adjust some specs and then continue to the checkout.
According to Tech Crunch, an Apple spokesperson said: “We redesigned Apple.com knowing that our customers want to explore, research and shop in one place.
“The new Apple.com takes the very best of our existing site and our online store to give customers one simple destination to learn and buy without navigating between two different sites. We’ve also improved several of the site’s features to make shopping easier than ever for our customers.”
This news comes after analyst Canalys revealed that Lenovo has overtaken Apple in the PC market, with a 15 per cent market share.
