Synology’s new NAS can store over a petabyte of data

Synology has announced its biggest ever NAS – the RackStation RS18016xs+ and Expansion Unit RX1216sas.

The new RackStation can store over a petabyte of data using 8TB HDDs, and comes with two PCIe 3.0 x8 slots, allowing the installation of two dual-port 10GbE network cards. It delivers over 3,900 MB/s throughput and 348,000 sequential IOPS.

When connected with RX1216sas, the RS18016xs+ can store up to 1,440TB, and is designed to simplify data management and optimise virtualisation environments.

Both the RS18016xs+ and RX1216sas are backed with Synology’s 5-year limited warranty.

The RS18016xs+ has an RRP of £4,398, while the RX1216sas is priced at £1,992.
