LG Display CEO and president Sang-Beom Han will explore paper-thin displays at IFA

Life after 4K and curved: What’s next for the monitor market?

The likes of 4K, FreeSync, G-Sync and curved PC monitors haven’t been around for all that long, but one industry luminary is already looking ahead to future technologies.

LG Display CEO and president Sang-Beom Han will deliver the opening keynote at IFA 2015 on September 4th in Berlin, titled "How display technologies will change our lives".

Dr. Han will ask what comes next after current displays such as 4K and curved screens.

His keynote will grant trade visitors and media insights into the future of display technologies and product specifications, incuding the likes of paper-thin and transparent displays, as well as ever-more colorful and flexible screens.

“LG Display’s opening keynote at IFA 2015 focuses on a technology that is key to consumer and business users — the display. This is a moment to look forward as a global pioneer and technology leader envisions the future. We are thrilled to get IFA started together with Sang-Beom Han,“ said Jens Heithecker, IFA Executive Director.

Dr. Han is an IT expert with more than 30 years of experience in the semiconductor and display sectors. He has been credited with leading LG Display’s IT and TV business units to positions of worldwide prominence during his career.

As head of the IT unit in 2007, Dr. Han’s team succeeded in developing the company’s monitor and notebook PC panels into best-selling LCD products, and as head of the TV unit in 2010, he achieved a major accomplishment with the successful launch of FPR (Film Type Patterned Retarder) 3D technology.

He has also been recognised as a pioneer in commercialising OLED.

The IFA tech trade show will take place the Berlin Exhibition Grounds (Expo Center City) from September 4th to 9th 2015.
