We continue our series of mini profiles of the finalists in the new PCR Rising Stars Awards

PCR Rising Stars: Nichola Wells, Georgina Groves, Hal Greenwood and Lauren White

There’s just over a month to go until we celebrate the PC and tech industry’s hottest young talent at the PCR Rising Stars Awards.

This week we take a look at F-Secure’s Nichola Wells, Cooler Master’s Hal Greenwood, Panda Security’s Georgina Groves and Lauren White of Berkeley PR.

Nichola Wells, Corporate Marketing Manager, F-Secure

Prior to joining F-Secure’s marketing department, Wells (pictured top left) worked in the company’s sales department. She lists her key skills as ‘Go To Market’ positioning and strategy, marketing communications, product marketing, PR & social media, campaign management and more. Wells has been key to creating research and positioning documents for F-Secure’s operator partners, and has worked on a compelling brochure for Virgin Media, BT and Talk Talk.

She was also involved in a global online campaign which was recently awarded ‘Best International Campaign’ in the Oracle Markie Awards in Las Vegas. Away from F-Secure, Wells enjoys reading, tech blogs, social media and charity fund-raising. She recently cycled to Paris with seven of her colleagues to raise money for the Dreams Come True charity.

Hal Greenwood, Channel Marketing Executive, Cooler Master

Greenwood (pictured bottom right) joined Cooler Master in early 2014, having spent over four years at a system builder called Wired2Fire. There he began to specialise in the water cooling side of the business and was solely responsible for the water cooled PCs, from start (building and speccing with the customer) to finish (installation, testing, packaging and after sales support).

He took a six-month break from work to pursue an education in animation and games design, but picked up where he’d left off at Wired2Fire. His move to Cooler Master came in February last year and Greenwood is clearly incredibly proud of working there: “The reputation of the brand, the quality of the products, the following they have and the people make working for Cooler Master a joy.”

Outside of the office, Greenwood is an enthusiast gamer and also enjoys ‘fiddling with cars’. He claims that he was once quite sporty, but an injury has left him wary. “Gaming is safer,’ he says.

Georgina Groves, Retail Product Manager, Panda Security

Groves (pictured top right) was a telemarketer prior to arriving at Panda Security where she took a similar role before moving in to the consumer team. She highlights her key skills as a flexible attitude and communications skills: “Each day I might be communicating with suppliers, clients and the Panda product team across the globe to ensure the best consumer solutions are always on hand.”

Part of her role involves being the Panda Security UK events co-ordinator, coming up with team-building events for all departments. This is an area of her job that she’s most proud of (“you can feel it when a team is really bonding and pulling together”). When not socializing or doing fitness bootcamp (not at the same time, we suspect), outside of work Groves is getting to grips with interior design and DIY as a new homeowner.

Lauren White, Account Manager, Berkeley PR

White (pictured bottom left) joined Berkeley in 2012, straight from university and has since worked across a variety of B2B and B2C technology clients, building relationships with key journalists, organizing and managing press events and helping run general press office activity.

She highlights her ability to stay calm under pressure as a key skill – which is vital in a fast-paced profession like PR. And she’s very proud of her career progression to date, having been promoted from trainee account executive to junior account manager in just two and a half years. And delighted to have been listed in the 30 Under 30 feature, too.

Outside of work she does a lot of socializing with clients and journalists, and enjoys eating at good restaurants, going to gigs and checking out new cocktail bars. Our kind of girl!
