Vendor also launches new DSM 5.2 NAS OS

Synology promotes Billy Knowles to UK and Ireland sales manager

NAS storage specialist Synology has promoted Billy Knowles to sales manager for the UK and Ireland.

Knowles – one of PCR’s Rising Stars – first joined the company in June 2013 as technical support advisor, and was also promoted to Nordic sales manager back in 2014.

Joanne Plummer, marketing manager at Synology UK, said: “Billy has been with us approximately 24 months and in that time he has progressed from being a technical support advisor to Nordic sales manager.

“With his experience and knowledge of Synology, it made him the number one choice to take on the responsibility of the United Kingdom and Ireland as well.”

In his new role, Knowles will now travel the UK, Ireland and Nordics to meet channel partners, as well as presenting at events.

The PCR Rising Stars awards will take place on Thursday June 18th at London’s Sway Bar and is an extension of the popular 30 Under 30 feature published in PCR annually. Tickets are priced at just £35 and can be purchased here.

In other Synology news, the company has released its DiskStation Manager 5.2, the latest version of its NAS operating system.

DSM 5.2 also delivers many new features, including Cloud Station, which comes with a redesigned status tray and the ability to customise the maximum number of file versions according to a shared folder.

It comes equipped with AppArmor, which defends data from security threats, as well as Note Station, helping users to manage their data more easily.

The OS is free to download for users who own a DiskStation, RackStation or Embedded DataStation 10-series and onward. It was shown off at PCR Boot Camp last week.
