The distributor supplies a range of 3D printers and scanners

Ingram Micro expands 3D printing division

Ingram Micro has announced its new 3D printing and scanning division in Europe.

The division will be led by Rudolf Ehrmanntraut, senior manager for 3D printing and scanning, where he will set up a European Competence Center and continue to drive the distributor’s expansion in the printer market.

Ehrmanntraut said: “We have seen a frenzy of activity in the 3D printing and scanning space in Europe, with our resellers making it clear that they are looking to enter or expand in this fast-growing market.”

Ingram Micro’s product portfolio includes 3D systems, Leapfrog and RepRap, as well as 3D printers, 3D scanners and related supplies.

The centre will also offer training, support and pre-sales support for its resellers across Europe.

Brent McCarty, MD and VP for Ingram Micro, added: “Collaborating with our colleagues in Europe, we are working on building training programmes to support our customers in identifying and nurturing opportunities in a range of vertical markets, particularly education, healthcare, food and engineering.”

This news comes after Ingram Micro revealed its financial director survived the recent avalanche, which hit Mount Everest.
