IT industry association CompTIA has hired Estelle Johannes as its new UK director of member communities.
She will lead CompTIA’s UK community, engaging with members and driving growth going forwards. While CompTIA told PCR this is a new role, it confirmed that Johannes will take on a lot of the responsibilities Vaughan Shayler had, who departed CompTIA earlier this year.
Johannes brings eight years of experience in the global IT community to CompTIA.
Prior to joining the trade body, she was the online community manager at Baptie & Company, responsible for managing the organisation’s global IT and telecoms channel community. As a firm believer in face-to-face networking, she hosted regular community engagements such as focus groups and online and offline events to boost member satisfaction – something she aims to continue at CompTIA.
Johannes plans to build on the existing UK channel membership, ensuring that its events and meetings are of ever-increasing value to attendees. She also plans to extend CompTIA’s membership profile into Central and Northern Europe, as well as other emerging markets.
“CompTIA’s UK channel membership is a passionate group of people who firmly believe in driving the standards of the industry forward, and I can’t wait to get involved,” said Johannes.
“Communities are all about building long lasting relationships and I hope to make this a key aspect of our activity going forward by maximising networking opportunities. Through new ways of engagement, like gamification, social media interaction and e-books, I hope to bring new ways of learning to the community and take the way we share information to the next level.”
