Here’s this week’s roundup of the latest tech goods on the market.
Livescribe has announced the launch of its Smartpen 3 and Smartpen 3 Pro edition (pictured).
The pen is designed to write like a normal ballpoint. Once paired with the companion app, the pen captures everything that is written or drawn.
The Smartpen 3 is available through Exertis for £129.99, with the pro edition costing £169.99 and coming with a one year Evernote premium subscription worth £30.
Elsewhere, the Kave range of gaming headphones from Roccat has been expanded, with the introduction of the XTD 5.1 Analog.
The 5.1 surround sound headset comes equipped with two 40mm driver units, a 30mm vibration unit in each ear cup, a dual-mode remote for time-saving audio control adjustment, and an LED light-tipped mouthpiece that ensures the user knows when they’re on a live mic or muted.
A new range of portable projectors have also been revealed by Epson. The lightweight devices are ideal for meeting rooms, classrooms or home offices, and come with enhanced connectivity and networking.
The range uses 3LCD technology, producing high white and colour light output delivering "exceptional" image quality. Up to four devices can be paired with a single projector, with content from multiple devices being displayed simultaneously. The range of projectors are available now starting from £351.16.
Wilk Elektronik, which owns the Goodram memory brand, has released a new enthusiast-oriented range of SSDs.
The Iridium range focuses on sustained performance, low latency and software-driven data protection algorithms.
The devices come in 120GB, 240GB and 480GB sizes, with the Iridium Pro coming in 240GB, 480GB and 960GB sizes.
A line-up of 3-bit V-Nand based 850 EVO SSDs for ultrathin PCs have also been released by Samsung.
The company has unveiled the 850 EVO M.2 and 850 EVO mSTATA SSD, both of which will launch in 53 countries.
Unsoo Kim, senior VP of branded product marketing at Samsung, said: “By offering the 850 EVO in multiple form factors, Samsung is giving every PC user the opportunity to upgrade their device with the speed, reliability and endurance of 3D V-NAND."
New systems management software and networking solutions have been introduced by Lenovo.
Lenovo XClarity aims to let the customer centralise and streamline hardware resource management, speed cloud and traditional infrastructure deployments and enable visibility and control of management software tools.
Whereas the Lenovo XClarity Administrator supports select System x servers and the Flex System converged infrastructure platform, which can be easily configured by an IT professional in minutes rather than the hours it typically takes with traditional system management solutions.
Toshiba has expanded its line-up of e-MMC version 5.1 compliant embedded NAND flash memory products.
The new products integrate NAND chips fabricated with 15nm process technology with a controller to manage basic control functions for NAND applications in a single package. The devices are designed for application in a wide range of digital consumer products, including smartphones, tablets and wearable devices.
Additionally, Asus claims its new motherboards are the world’s fastest USB 3.1 boards.
New 3.1 expansion cards have 10GB/s data transfer speeds, and up to 854.6/863.9 9MB/s read and write speeds, which is 1.3 times faster than other cards. The cards are available now starting at £113.96.
Onto the printer side of things, HP has expanded its portfolio of LaserJet printers for business. The M604, M605, M606 printers are now available in the UK.
The printers are designed for ten to 25 users, printing 3,000 to 20,000 pages a month. The M604 is priced at £320, the M605 is £410 and the M606 costs £660.
Brother has also expanded its printer range, with two new 100ppm models. Both feature an improved paper tray, "ultra fast" print speeds promising long-term cost saving with high paper capacity, and high capacity cartridges meaning lower maintenance time.
Stuart Mabe, product manager at Brother UK, said: “This range includes the fastest mono printers in the market and gives resellers a great proposition for businesses that need high-volume batch printing.”
