Nvidia has introduced its first Android powered TV games console that streams high quality PC games from the cloud, The Nvidia Cloud.
The Nvidia Shield is powered by the Tegra X1 processor, boasts 16 GB of internal storage and is compatible with Android TV and Google Cast.
It is 4K Ultra-HD ready with 4K playback and captures up to 60 frames per second allowing it to stream HD content including games, TV shows and film.
Gamers can access such games as Batman: Arkham Origins, Metro Last Light Redux, Borderlands the Pre-Sequel and can broadcast content straight to Twitch.
The device acts as a gateway to the Nvidia Grid game-streaming service. Powered by GeForce GTX supercomputers based in the cloud, delivering what Nvidia call a “Netflix for games” experience.
Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO and president of Nvidia, said: “Shield will change the way we enjoy digital entertainment at home. It’s incredibly powerful, efficient and advanced living room entertainment device.
“It’s the best Android TV experience, and it can transform into a serious gaming machine. It is made to game.”
The console will be available in May priced at around £130 for the basic console and controller bundle.
