Sony’s Project Morpheus to launch in 2016

We could now get our hands on Sony’s rival to the Oculus rift during the first half of 2016.

The company has revealed plans at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2015 that it will be launching its Project Morpheus virtual reality headset during next year.

The VR headset was first unveiled last year at the GDC, which has been designed for use with the PS4.

A 1920×1080 RGB OLED display with a refresh rate of 120hz will feature with the new device.

Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, said last year: “Virtual reality is the next innovation from PlayStation that will [shape] the future of games."

It also includes a 5.7-inch display with a 100-degree field of view as well as nine LED lights for tracking.

The design of the device has been tweaked slightly, making it easier for users to remove the headset from their head.

No pricing has been confirmed yet, so we will just have to wait until 2016 to find out more.
