Popular streaming service gets its own US event

TwitchCon to bring together game streamers, partners and fans

Amazon’s hugely popular game streaming service Twitch is getting its own TwitchCon event in the US.

The social video platform and community for gamers will host the convention in San Francisco’s Moscone West from September 25th and 26th, bringing together gamers, streamers, fans, viewers and partners.

Twitch was bought by Amazon last year. It has a captive audience of more than 100 million viewers, and allows users to watch their favourite gamers playing console and PC titles live, from League of Legends to Call of Duty.

Attendees at the event will be able to ‘mingle’ with their favourite broadcasters, experience live content and listen to talks at the show.

“Twitch broadcasters have the most passionate fans, so we want to create an amazing experience where they can come together in person,” said Emmett Shear, CEO of Twitch.

“TwitchCon will be an opportunity for the entire community – broadcasters, game developers, viewers, and us – to play and learn together.”

The event is being co-produced by Twitch and pop culture event organiser ReedPOP.

Twitch’s UK and EMEA regional director Stuart Saw was included in PCR’s 2015 30 Under 30.
