CeBit believes it is ‘inspiration in its purest form’ and stresses that there is more to IoT than smart fridges

What to expect from CeBit 2015

CeBit’s preview for the 2015 show took place in Hannover this week, where Oliver Frese, member of the Deutsche Messe Board, made some pretty bold statements.

Not only did Frese mock smart fridges, stating that he will ‘never use one’, but he also stressed that there is so much more to IoT than the end product.

This year’s CeBit is set to focus on every element of IoT, from technical equipment needed by firms, the storage of data – in fact the whole area of data centres, and the new business models needed to make IoT possible.

“CeBit 2015 will be the home of the Internet of Things,” said Frese.

There will also be a big focus on digitisation. The show has coined a new phrase called ‘D!economy’ and promises to ‘bring the entire world of digitisation to life’.

“That’s why IT businesses are present at CeBit,” said Frese. “We are at the threshold of a digital age. CeBit is a unique platform for economics and politics and it’s about promoting startups as well as international corporations.”

Frese summed up his, and CeBit’s, enthusiasm for this year’s show by describing it as ‘inspiration in its purest form’.

This year is set to be bigger than previous shows, with over 600 exhibitors set to attend.

The preview show saw a few of these exhibitors offering an insight into what they will be demonstrating at the main event, including ZXY Printing’s 3D printers, Relayr’s IoT toolset, ZTE and Huawei’s plans for mobile devices, and ESET’s security offerings.
