Lets groups create and share content; two touch screen displays due later this year

Microsoft reveals Surface Hub – a large screen ‘collaboration device’

First details have been released of the Microsoft Surface Hub touch display, a ‘team collaboration device’ designed for creative work meetings.

The device – available in either 55-inch or 84-inch 4K variations (according to The Verge) – is powered by Windows 10 and will launch later this year.

Several users can edit documents and add notes to images at once by using a smartpen or swiping their fingers across the touch screen. Up to 100 touch points can be recognised in total.

Microsoft also says the OneNote whiteboard can be used to share ideas on ‘an infinite canvas’, as well as paste and annotate content from other apps, and bring remote participants into the brainstorm. Files can be saved as a OneNote file and emailed to others.

The ink on Microsoft Surface Hub is "so fluid and responsive that it feels just like a pen on paper", so says Microsoft, and it lets two people ink at the same time.

The Microsoft Surface Hub also lets people walk up and join a Skype for Business meeting with a tap of the screen, while documents can be shared from laptops, tablets or phones.

Microsoft Office is compatible too, and universal apps built for Windows 10 can be used on the Surface Hub, automatically scaling to the large screen.

Plus, the display has clear sound and high quality video, boasts Microsoft. It offers a variety of inputs including wireless projection, HDMI, NFC, Bluetooth and ports to connect to peripheral devices.

"Microsoft Surface Hub integrates beautifully into the modern workplace, enabling productivity in any space where people come together to get things done, from large conference rooms to informal huddle spaces to offices," said Microsoft in a statement.

"The fully integrated design, choice of two screen sizes, and flexible mounting configurations means there’s a solution for your business needs. Microsoft Surface Hub is also designed to be easy to deploy and manage remotely."
