PayPal targets small businesses with support for Windows devices

PayPal is updating its PayPal Here hardware, adding support for Windows 8.1 devices.

The new update will work with EMV Chip and PIN cards in the US, and will also be compatible with devices such as the Surface Pro 3 and Lumia phones.

PayPal has revealed that the new reader, which will be rolling out later this year, will allow contactless transactions via Bluetooth.

In a blog post, PayPal said: “With help from Microsoft, select small businesses can now accept credit card, debit card, and PayPal transactions using the Windows platform via the PayPal Here SDK and, very soon, the PayPal Here app.“

Microsoft is also targeting small businesses with its Surface Pro 3 and PayPal Here, as the new hardware will allow users to track their finances and make payments.

The company said in a blog post: “With the new app, small businesses can easily track sales, manage inventory, and accept all forms of payments, all from a single Windows device.”

This news comes after Apple revealed its online store would now accept PayPal.
