A new network of IT technicians has formed in the UK to launch the iCracked smartphone and tablet repairs service.
The service – already well established in the US – consists of a crew of ‘iTechs’ who go direct to consumers at work, home or in their local coffee shop to fix their phone ‘at a moment’s notice’.
Having repaired over 100,000 devices in the US in just the past two years, its network of ‘smartphone doctors’ can now be dispatched at the click of a button to fix damaged phones in the London region. There are more than 30 independent technicians already on call in the capital, and the service will be rolling out across the rest of the UK in the coming months.
The aim is to fix a user’s phone in a matter of minutes, as opposed to days or weeks.
An iCracked survey shows that Londoners are among the most accident prone phone owners with almost half (44 per cent) of the city’s inhabitants having broken a device. There are an estimated 48 million mobile phones owned by UK adults overall.

I’ve dropped my smartphone more times than I can remember and understand the strain a damaged device can cause on modern life; I’m determined to bring the iCracked service to as many people as possible in the London and the UK.
"With trained iTechs on the streets of London capable of repairing iPhones in minutes, no longer will damaging a smartphone spell the end of a night out, or separate people with their loved ones (and their emails) for days on end.”
iCracked also provides a range of off-shoot services in the US, including a buy-back service for old devices. These services are expected to arrive in the UK in 2015, following the successful roll-out of the on-demand and mail-order repair services.
