Independent retailers across the UK are taking part in a campaign to bring more customers to the High Street this Christmas.
The ‘Celebrate an Independent Christmas’ campaign aims to boost consumer awareness of local independent stores.
A Christmas shopping challenge has also been detailed, which invites consumers to decorate a Christmas tree by collecting bauble stickers from various retailers.
Retail expert Clare Rayner said: “As footfall on the UK’s High Streets continues to drop, independent retailers need to do everything they can to keep shoppers coming into town.
“By working together, independent retailers can remind their local communities that it’s no secret how unique, friendly and fun the High Street can be at Christmas time.”
However, Springboard’s Christmas forecast suggests that High Street footfall will rise by eight per cent across the UK during the festive season.
Rayner added: “We’re hoping that this year, the Christmas shoppers will continue to support their local High Streets.”
