AMD appoints Dr. Lisa Su as its first female CEO

AMD has announced that Dr. Lisa Su will become the company’s new president and CEO.

Dr. Su replaces Rory Read, who stepped down as part of a transition plan, however, he will continue to support the transition in an advisory role.

Dr. Su first joined AMD during 2012, and was previously the senior vice president and general manager of global business units.

She has become AMD’s first female CEO.

Commenting on her appointment, Dr. Su said: "I am deeply honoured to have this opportunity to lead AMD during this important time of transformation.

“Our world-class technology assets combined with the incredible talent and passion of the AMD team provide us with a unique opportunity to shape the future of computing.”

With her new role, Dr. Su will also become a member of the board of directors within the company.

Rory Read added: “I am grateful to have had the opportunity to lead such a talented team and proud of what we have accomplished during such an important chapter in the company’s history.

“I am confident that Lisa is the right leader to drive AMD forward."
