The Vaio Corporation has unveiled its new computer tablet, aimed specifically at pros.
The company showcased the VAIO Prototype Tablet PC, and its 12.3-inch 2K display, Aa Adobe’s Max design conference.
The 2560×1704 resolution display is driven by an Intel H-series processor and Iris Pro integrated graphics.
It features two full-size USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI and Mini Display port, a stylus pen, a detachable wireless keyboard, as well as room for a full-size SDXC card.
Yoshifumi Ito, deputy general manager of Vaio, said: “By creating a tablet environment that is as powerful as a desktop, we want to free up creators from the desk when at work.”
The Wall Street Journal’s report stated that the hefty tablet will only be available in Japan, and will arrive in May next year for at least ¥200,000 (around £1,134).
Sony no longer owns Vaio, after selling the brand to Japan Industrial Partners earlier this year, quitting the PC business.
Sony said in a statement: “The company has determined that concentrating its mobile product line-up on smartphones and tablets and transferring its PC business to a new company established by JIP is the optimal solution.”
