Project aims to let anyone build a fully-functioning laptop

Pi-Top: 3D-printed Raspberry Pi laptop to launch

A build-your-own 3D-printed laptop powered by a Raspberry Pi is on the way.

According to the creators, the Pi-Top will come in a kit at an accessible price point which will allow anyone to build a fully-functional laptop.

"The Pi-Top Kit provides a basis to expand your knowledge in hardware and software innovation. Build and understand your own Raspberry Pi Model B+ powered laptop. We take you through each component and its functionality, so that you can use the Pi-Top as a tool for your own build projects in the future," reads the Pi-Top website.

"The Pi-Top kit is just the start. Our future projects will see you modifying the Pi-Top using everything you’ve learnt and gaining the skills to create your own products. At this stage, you will be designing your own components and products."

The kit includes a Raspberry Pi Model B+, a battery with over six hours worth of power on a single charge, a Wi-Fi antenna, a keyboard, and a 13.3-inch HD LCD screen.

The Pi-Top team also wants to provide free lessons for all those that buy one of their kits, ranging from beginner to advanced. These include lessons on how to design PCBs.
