Amazon has branched out into the kids market with its first tablet designed specifically for children.
The Fire HD Kids Edition features a range of books, movies, educational apps and games for children, plus a year of Amazon unlimited FreeTime for no additional costs.
As well as this, the new tablet includes a front and rear facing camera, quad-core processor, and HD display in both six and seven-inches. Prices start at $149 and is currently only available in the US.
Peter Larsen, vice president of Amazon Devices, said: "Fire HD Kids Edition is a real tablet, not a toy. Kids break things, so we added a two-year, no-questions-asked, worry-free guarantee.
“Plus, you’ll never be surprised by a bill – it comes with a year of FreeTime Unlimited, which includes over 5,000 books, movies, TV episodes, educational apps, and games at no additional cost."
The company have also unveiled their latest range of new tablets in the UK, including the Fire HDX made to rival the iPad Air with louder audio and a lighter weight priced at £329, and the Fire HD, which features a faster quad-core processor running at up to 1.5 GHz priced at £79.
The Kindle Voyage, one of the thinnest devices from Amazon, has also been released and has an price tag £169, while an all-new Kindle now with touch will be available for just £59.
This news comes after Amazon acquired game streaming site Twitch for $970 million.
