Pricing for Nvidia’s expected upcoming graphics cards – the GeForce GTX 970 and 980 – has been revealed according to reports.
It’s rumoured that the chip maker is skipping the GeForce GTX 800 series and will instead launch 900 series graphics cards.
New reports suggest that a GTX 970 will be priced at $399 while a more powerful GTX 980 will cost $599 in the US, according to 3D Center, as reported by TechPowerUp.
Those figures, if accurate, would put the GTX 970 in a similar price bracket to Nvidia’s current GTX 780 and AMD’s R9 290, while the GTX 980 would be priced similarly to the current Nvidia GTX 780 Ti but higher than AMD’s top R9 290X.
Reports suggest the GTX 980 will be based on the 28 nm GM204 silicon, featuring 2,048 CUDA cores, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs, while the GTX 970 will boast 1,664 CUDA cores and 104 TMUs.
Both are expected to feature 256-bit wide memory interfaces with 4GB of GDDR5 memory.
An Nvidia spokesperson says they can’t comment on rumour and speculation.
