Roku TV to launch in September; available now for pre-order

Set-top box maker Roku has revealed its first ever Smart TV can be pre-ordered as of today.

The Roku TV is available to pre-order from TCL now, with the devices becoming available at major retailers in the US in the coming weeks.

Hisense has also revealed that its Roku TVs will be available in the US in late September.

TCL will offer four models: 32-inch, 40-inch, 48-inch and 55-inch. Hisense’s range will include 40-inch, 48-inch, 50-inch and 55-inch versions.

Both manufacturers will be offering TVs with the TV-centric version of the Roku OS built into them.

“TCL Roku TV is the result of combining one of the world’s best-selling TV brands with Roku, the U.S.’s most popular streaming platform,” said Chris Larson, vice president of sales and marketing at TCL.

“Working together we developed a high-quality and very affordable Smart TV that features a stylish design, access to the most streaming channels, and a user experience that can’t be equaled by other Smart TVs on the market today.”

Peter Erdman, vice president of consumer electronics, Hisense USA, commented: “Roku is the recognised leader in streaming entertainment to the TV, so integrating its powerful operating system, including access to the most comprehensive streaming channel store available, into a Hisense TV is a revolutionary move."

The TCL Roku TV models range from $229 to $649. There is no word on pricing for the Hisense models at the time of writing.

There is also currently no news on a UK launch.
