4GB of built-in storage allows readers to hold up to 2,000 books

Barnes and Noble’s Nook Glowlight now available in UK

The Nook e-reader from Barnes and Noble launches in the UK today.

The second-generation GlowLight e-reader is now available for £89 from various retailers including, Argos, Asda, Sainsbury’s, and John Lewis.

It is priced at around £20 lower than its competitors, including the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite priced at £109 and the Kobo Aura, which is priced at £109.99.

It is also able to hold up to 2,000 books, and features backlit pages and sharper text, for a clearer reading experience.

4GB of built-in storage is included, and the text is displayed across the Nook’s six-inch screen. Thanks to E Ink’s new Regal waveform technology, pages are also refreshed more smoothly and quickly.

Colin Eustace, the general manager at Barnes and Noble, said: “We are excited to launch the new Nook GlowLight in the UK. The new Nook, designed for people who love to read anytime, anywhere, takes the reading experience to a whole new level.

“We have developed an all new lightweight design that is extremely comfortable to hold in one hand. Lighter and brighter, with a crisp, sharp text, no full page flashing and no ads, our redesigned reading experience is more immersive than ever making the device a must-have item for long-form readers.”

This news comes as Sony announced that it will pull out of the worldwide e-reader market.
