Vodafone offering discounted Chromecast in UK

Vodafone has announced that it will be selling Google’s media-streaming devices at a discount to its customers in the UK.

Available in Vodafone’s 375 UK stores, all new and existing Red 4G customers will be able to purchase the Chromecast for £25 (RRP £30).

Vodafone is the first UK mobile network to sell Google’s Chromecast.

Cindy Rose, customer director at Vodafone UK, said: “We’re expecting Chromecast to be a big hit. Giving our customers the best possible experience, wherever they are, is key. So, whether you’re at home or on the move, you’ll now be able to enjoy and share the best online content from your smartphone, tablet and PC on your TV.”

The Chromecast plugs into the HDMI port of a TV and enables users to cast films, music and more to the TV using their smartphone, tablet or laptop. It works with Android and iOS, as well as Windows and Mac.

First launched in the US last year, the device sold out in a day. It originally went on sale exclusively in the UK at Currys & PC World in March.
