Tech firms feature in Sunday Times Top Track 100

Top UK PC/tech firms have been recognised in the 2014 Sunday Times Top Track 100, including Westcoast, John Lewis Partnership and more.

The list is described by the Times as ‘Britain’s 100 private companies with the biggest sales’.

John Lewis Partnership (Waitrose and John Lewis) was listed at number four with sales of £9 billion, while payment processor Worldpay reached number eight with £3.4 billion in sales.

IT infrastructure integrator Rigby Group was listed at number 19 with sales of £2.2 billion, while retail group Shop Direct reached number 25 with sales of £1.7 billion, and distributor Westcoast made it to number 39.

The supplier, which had sales of £1.2 billion, was up from number 52 in last year’s list

Westcoast chairman and founder Joe Hemani – also named as EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 for the London and South – said: "These accolades are a reflection of the passion and hard work of all the staff in the group. We are a personal business and it is the staff who deserve these awards. Being a privately owned business allows us to be more innovative and service our stakeholders in ways that not all distributors can."

Elsewhere in the Top Track 100, retailers Phones 4U reached number 42 (£1.14 billion in sales) and Harrods leapt to number 69 (sales of £843 million).

"The retail sector experienced a six per cent increase in sales to £64 billion as consumer optimism improved," read a statement from The Sunday Times.
