US enterprise file sharing provider Egnyte is scaling back on in-house direct sales and is opening up its offering to resellers.
The company, which ramped up its UK focus earlier this year, has kicked off a big UK reseller drive in a bid to grow its revenue coming from Europe to 20 per cent this year. It estimates indirect sales will contribute 80 per cent to this revenue goal in the next two years.
Egnyte has partnered with its first UK reseller, Stafford-based IT firm 848, which provides cloud and on-premise technology to UK businesses.
"Partnering with 848 is another step in Egnyte’s strategy to compete with the likes of Box, Workshare and Hightail in the UK and Europe," said Egnyte in a statement.
"This partnership solidifies Egnyte’s offering for European businesses who want a more complete file sharing solution which can address all customer scenarios: whether it be cloud-only file access, on-premises storage access or a combination of the two."
Egnyte promises ‘high-margin recurring monthly revenue’, allowing managed service providers to sell storage as well as third-party software integrations like Google Drive and DocuSign.
The firm says demand for cloud file sharing is rising, referring to a recent survey which suggested that 97 per cent of customers want on-premise and cloud storage combined.
