Razer enters mobile hardware market with Junglecat iOS controller

Razer has unveiled its Junglecat gamepad, designed for use with iOS devices.

Razer’s entrée into mobile phone hardware offers consumers a durable slider controller that reveals or hides the gamepad as desired.

It features a full set of gaming functions, including AXBY pressure-sensitive buttons, D-pad and bumpers.

Measuring 20mm thin, the controller can be used as a standard protective case. It comes with a downloadable iOS app that lets users remap and define all of its button functions as well as adjust pressure sensitivity.

The Junglecat gamepad is Razer’s first interface for mobile phones and is released worldwide in July.

Razer has also announced that its one-year Child’s Play/Razer Surround charity drive will conclude on June 30th.

Last year, Razer waived all charges on its next-generation virtual surround sound audio engine, Razer Surround. Instead Razer collected donations for the charity Child’s Play, a game industry charity dedicated to improving children’s lives in hospitals around the world.

Nearly one million users downloaded Razer Surround and more than $35,000 has been collected for Child’s Play to-date.
