Components vendor Gigabyte and gaming laptop manufacturer Schenker Technologies have struck a partnership.
The long-term deal will see the two firms market and sell special edition high-performance gaming laptops under Schenker’s XMG brand.
The move is said to be an effort by Gigabyte to further strengthen its position in the European market for mobile gaming PCs. The partners have confirmed their plans for further product launches in the future.
Gigabyte originally established the sales and distribution of its gaming laptops in Europe in 2011. The company has since released a number of models and upgrades, but customers have been unable to configure the systems.
The new ‘XMG Core series, powered by Gigabyte’ range from Gigabyte and Schenker is aimed at remedying this market gap, offering consumers the opportunity to customise the gaming laptops at the point of purchase.
“We are looking forward to a very promising partnership with Schenker Technologies for the European market”, said Vincent Liu, director of sales for Gigabyte Technology.
“The increasing demand, especially in the configurable gaming laptop sector, was the deciding factor for us in expanding our portfolio.”
“Gamers really put a lot of stock in the performance of their hardware and the ability to customise their products as they see fit,” added Robert Schenker, founder and MD of Schenker Technologies.
“But ever increasingly we have received requests for laptops with a certain element of additional lifestyle-characteristics and a more elegant design.
“Precisely for this reason, Gigabyte will be the perfect partner for us, with their well-thought design and high quality.”
