Players and staff will be equipped with the Galaxy S5

Samsung becomes official smartphone supplier to England football team

In a new partnership with the FA, Samsung will equip both players and staff of the England football team with the Galaxy S5 smartphone.

“We are thrilled to partner with the England football team ahead of what is set to be an exciting summer of football,” Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland President, Andy Griffiths said.

“Samsung has a long association with football both in the UK and globally and we’re delighted that this partnership adds to our on-going commitment to all football fans.

“We wish the England team the best of luck this summer and are proud that the players and staff will be equipped with the latest Samsung technology.”

FA Commercial Director, Stuart Turner, said: “We are extremely excited that Samsung will be supporting the England team as our new Official Consumer Electronics & Smartphone Supplier. Samsung has a fantastic heritage in football across the globe and in such an important year, the team will be flying out to Brazil with the best possible mobile devices at their fingertips.”

The Galaxy S5 comes pre-loaded with a heart rate monitor and is resistant to sweat, rain, liquids, sand and dust.

Other specs include a 16MP camera, 4K video capabilities, 5.1-inch display, 2.5GHz Quad-Core processor, 2GB of RAM and a battery that can last 20 per cent longer than the Galaxy S4’s.

Just weeks after the launch of the S5, a number of owners complained of a major flaw with the smartphone’s camera.

Samsung confirmed that it was aware if the reports and has asked device owners to get in touch with the firm to arrange an exchange.
