Larger smartphone may not be released alongside the iPhone 6

Apple ‘iPhone Air’ delayed until 2015

Apple’s 5.5-inch smartphone has been reportedly delayed until 2015 due to battery issues.

The device was originally thought to be released alongside a 4.7-inch ‘iPhone 6’.

It was first rumoured that the larger model would not carry the ‘iPhone’ brand name, but other reports suggest that it may now be called the ‘iPhone Air’.

According to Taiwanese publication the Industrial and Commercial Times, Apple is struggling to source a battery that is powerful enough, yet thin enough, to fit inside the smartphone’s slim body.

Last month, it was reported that Apple’s display panel contractors had started ramping up production to meet the iPhone 6’s target of a September launch.

Specs rumours for the new devices include a 10MP camera and humidity, pressure and temperature sensors.
