PCR Boot Camp 2014 Partner Spotlight: MSI

We talk to MSI’s UK Notebook GM Warner Wang about the PC gaming vendor’s product range ahead of PCR Boot Camp 2014.

The full conference line-up has also been confirmed.

We questioned MSI’s Warner Wang about their presence at this year’s event and what sets them apart.

PCR: What do you see being the biggest challenge facing PC retailers at the moment?

Warner Wang: The Biggest challenge is embracing social media. Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and other platforms offer the tools to create local demand and get shoppers away from the big etailers.

In your opinion, what’s the most important thing for retailers and resellers to bear in mind when dealing with customers?

Retailers and Resellers have a fantastic opportunity to engage with the consumer. There is no better opportunity to create their own value proposition that the internet simply cannot make. Knowing the products and being able to educate the consumer is key in developing their local market.

What gadget can’t you live without?

My NAS Box.

What do you think will be the next big thing in tech?

Everyone is talking about converging into one magic device such as a powerful mobile phone. However, as a gaming brand, MSI does believe in the near feature PC gaming will be a major segment in mid-high range gaming market. The major reason is that PC/Notebook can provide a much better gaming experience than console, not even mention about phone gaming which is only good for casual gaming.

If you could wave a magic wand, what would you change about the channel?

More credit available to independent retailers.

What is your proudest moment as a company?

MSI is not only offering gaming products, but we also devoted ourselves to growing the whole gaming industry. Since past few years, we have sponsored worldwide gaming events and also e-sports teams to help gamers have a chance to stand on the worldwide e-sports stage.

What products and services will you be promoting at Boot Camp this year?

We will be promoting our range of award winning Gaming Notebooks and Mobile Workstations. For retailers who have not worked with MSI previously, it’s a great opportunity to come and get hands on with our ultra thin and ultra light 15.6-inch Stealth Model.

What distinguishes you from your competitors?

As a world leading gaming brand, MSI Notebook’s goal is to become the most trusted name in gaming and e-sport. We stand by our principles of breakthroughs in design, the pursuit of excellence, and technological innovation as we have continued to raise the bar for ourselves and have accomplished a great deal of pioneering work in the industry.

What are your key brands/lines you carry?

MSI is carrying a wide range of products including notebooks, motherboards, graphics cards, All-in-One PCs, and workstations.

What are you most looking forward to at PCR Boot Camp?

Engaging with new partners to MSI and showcasing to them our exciting product range that will complement their retail strategy.
