Despite an overall four per cent decline in printer hardware unit sales in Western Europe, laser multi-functional printers (MFPs) grew nearly 10 per cent during 2013.
According to analyst Context, inkjet single-function printers were among the hardest hit, losing 12 per cent of unit sales, while inkjet MFPs fell three per cent and laser single-function printers dipped nine per cent.
Year-on-year unit growth in the UK dipped eight per cent.
Belgium was the strongest European printer market in 2013, with growth up eight per cent.
For vendors, the market proved erratic. HP and Samsung suffered six per cent and five per cent year-on-year declines of overall printer hardware distribution sales respectively, while Canon and Brother had 28 per cent and 15 per cent growth for the same period.
