The full conference line up has now be confirmed – check it out here.
What do you see being the biggest challenge facing PC retailers at the moment?
One of the hardest challenges retailers are currently facing is making shopping in-store attractive. In this digital age consumers often see product in-store but then turn to the internet to source the best price and make their final purchase. Converting window shoppers into customers is essential to ensure the survival of the High Street.
We also believe that it will be a challenge to entice tablet users back to the PC market but hope that touch screen computing at an attractive price point will encourage PC sales moving forward.
In your opinion, what’s the most important thing for retailers and resellers to bear in mind when dealing with customers?
It is important to bear in mind that customers are becoming more tech savvy and financially aware, therefore it is vital to ensure that the level of service and packages retailers provide are competitive and attractive. Bundling a number of products together is a great way to deliver customers an all-in-one solution that they can have total confidence in.
What gadget can’t you live without?
Being away from the office the majority of the time demands I have a quick, portable gadget that can keep me connected in various ways. And with two young children, I need to be at my partner’s beck and call, as well as take loads of photos and videos so… I could not live without my iPhone.
What do you think will be the next big thing in tech?
In addition to the recurring padding on the current paradigm, I see the wearable tech sector growing in 2014. Despite the channel’s reluctance I think consumers are getting on-board so, from tech disguised as watches and glasses to 3D printed clothes, it should be an interesting year. In our business we see touch screen monitors fuelling a revival of the home PC. The futuristic nature of the touch screen experience makes big screen computing attractive again.
If you could wave a magic wand, what would you change about the channel?
We would like to see more flexibility in the channel so that distributors can embrace and trust what mid-sized manufacturers have to offer, and see the sales floor following suit.
What is your proudest moment as a company?
Our proudest moment was back in 2007 when after only the second quarter of trading in the UK market the HannsG brand achieved the number 5 position for UK monitor sales competing against established Tier 1 brands. But what makes us even more proud is that we have retained this position quarter on quarter. We are also very proud to have successfully carved a position in the saturated Tablet PC market with our HANNSpad Tablet PC series, which is a real testament to our brand’s reputation, as I am sure many can testify that this is no walk in the park.
What products and services will you be promoting at Boot Camp this year?
Hannspree will use this year’s expo to demonstrate a growing portfolio of specialist touch screen products including an exclusive look at a new range of Hannspree Smartphones. The expo will enable visitors a hands-on touch screen experience of the Hannspree product variations, such as new affordable HannsG touch screen monitors and the 2nd generation HANNSpad series of Tablet PCs.
What distinguishes you from your competitors?
Firstly, our tidy portfolio of products – We offer a comprehensive variety of Sku’s with specific key features and selling points, not a bottomless pit of Sku’s which are barely distinguishable. Secondly, our heritage – As part of the HannStar Display Corporation, one of the largest glass panel manufacturers in the world, we benefit from technological prowess in display technology which enables us to be completely confident in our products, so much so that we offer industry leading warranties on all our products.
What are you key brands/lines you carry?
Hannspree is aconsumer electronics brand which launched back in 2006 with an exciting portfolio of CE products such as DPF, TVs and Netbooks that stood out from the crowd and which successfully managed to shake up an industry associated with mass-production and uniform product design. This strategy put the Hannspree brand on the map and allowed us to successfully transfer our expertise into the design of mass consumer electronics in line with market demand. We now offer a portfolio of large screen tablet PCs.
HannsG is the monitor sub brand of Hannspree. The HannsG portfolio consists of monitors with displays ranging between 18.5” and 27” and boast specialist technologies. Most recently we launched a new series of Touch Screen monitors designed to make the technology of tomorrow available for all today. HannsG is one of only a handful of monitor manufacturers in the world which offers specialist hard wearing tough glass technology solutions, we have revived the retro square monitor and offer solutions with ergonomic design i.e. height adjust functionality, tilt and swivel.
What are you most looking forward to at PCR Boot Camp?
Having a drink with our competitors. It’s nice to unwind and share some friendly banter over a beer at the end of the day.
