Dixons and Carphone merger deadline extended

Dixons and Carphone Warehouse have been given more time to discuss their possible £4bn merger.

Both companies were asked to come to an agreement at 5pm today (March 24th), but the Takeover Panel has now granted their request for an extension.

The two firms must now announce their plans by no later than 5pm on May 19th.

“Discussions are still ongoing and there can be no certainty that a firm offer will be made,” reads an official update from Carphone Warehouse.

Dixons and Carphone confirmed that they were in preliminary discussions over a possible merger in February.
