What is the gadget you can’t live without?

I certainly can’t imagine my life without my smartphone. Having all of the internet’s resources in my pocket continues to amaze me.

What would you like to see more of in the industry?

From a vendor perspective, I would like to see a more security-oriented approach and, from the user side, more security awareness and responsibility.

What would you like to less of in the industry?

I’d like to see fewer firmware exploits, backdoor attacks and malicious behaviour – but sadly this is likely to just be wishful thinking.

What is making you most excited for 2014?

Google Glass is something that may revolutionise the whole industry, as the virtual reality aspect of the device blurs the boundaries between sci-fi and reality.

Which gadget do you wish existed?

I would love to see a virtual travelling device or app that would enable me to virtually visit distant places without having to physically travel. Something like Google Street View, but engaging all of the five senses.
