Reveal "just around the corner", teases Lenovo VP

Lenovo 50-inch 4K TV to use Nvidia Tegra K1 chip?

A new smart 4K TV from Lenovo is to use Nvidia’s Tegra K1 mobile chipset, reports claim.

The details emanate from the VP of Lenovo itself, who posted details of the upcoming 50-inch display on social network Weibo (via GforGames).

Stated specs of the device include the “world’s fastest” 200-core CPU and GPU hybrid – with the 192-core Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset being the only hardware to come close to that description.

The K1 was revealed by Nvidia at CES, and is said to provide desktop PC-like graphic capabilities on mobile devices.

The GPU power of the chip was stated to be double that of the PS3, and was shown running the Unreal Engine 4 demo previously used to showcase the PS4 and Xbox One.

No products containing the chipset have been announced yet, but that could be set to change very soon, as the Lenovo TV set’s launch is said to be “just around the corner”.
