HP: Retailers are making no money from selling tablets

HP has claimed that there is no room for retailer profit margins on tablets.

Speaking to TrustedReviews, Pascal Bourgat, HP’s VP of Consumer Personal Systems said: “If you ask Dixons ‘Are you making money on tablets?’ they will tell you immediately ‘My friend I will tell you I am making no money on tablets’.”

Bourget said that there are low margins on tablets and their accessories should be a vital part of retailers’ business models.

“A small (tablet) jacket probably costs a few dollars to make but can retail for £25 so there’s decent margin for retailers and for us,” he said.
