A Japanese-American man called Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto has denied his involvement with Bitcoin after Newsweek’s cover story identifying him as the father of the cryptocurrency.
Nakamoto has told the Associated Press that he has nothing to do with Bitcoin, saying that while many of the details in Newsweek’s reports are correct, he is certainly not ‘the face behind Bitcoin’.
Accoriding to the Newsweek report, when asked about Bitcoin, Nakamoto said: “I am no longer involved in that and I cannot discuss it.”
Nakamoto has since said that this was a misunderstanding, claiming he was talking about his past engineering career, not Bitcoin.
In other digital currency news, the Japanese government has said that Bitcoin is not a currency, yet some transactions using the virtual unit should be taxed.
It also stated that banks cannot provide Bitcoin as a product to customers.
