Gemini X-series stores roughly one petabyte of data

96TB flash storage solution is industry’s biggest

Nimbus Data has announced a storage solution said to be the industry’s highest-capacity flash memory array.

The Gemini X-series can store up to 10 flash nodes, to a total of almost one petabyte of storage capacity.

The 96TB of data space can be further expanded by using additional technology, the firm adds.

"The Gemini X-series is the industry’s highest capacity all-flash array,” Nimbus explained, “achieving approximately one petabyte (1PB) of raw capacity – or several petabytes of effective capacity after deduplication, compression and thin-provisioning."

The nodes support "redundant hot-swappable storage processors and power/cooling modules”.

In addition, “each Flash Node fully offloads hardware-intensive operations like parity protection, inline deduplication, flash management, and encryption".

The Gemini X-series will be provided to certain Nimbus partners in April, with a full release later in the year. Prices are yet to be revealed.
