Toshiba releases thinnest-ever HG6 SSD range

Toshiba has revealed the thinnest-ever SSD yet.

The HG6 range of drives feature 10nm toggle-mode 2.0 NAND memory, and are available in 2.5-inch 6Gbit/s SATA, mSATA and M.2 form factors.

The M.2-2280 128 and 256GB modules measure in at 2.3mm thick – the thinnest SSDs ever released.

Toshiba said that the drives are designed for use in notebook PCs, workstations, thin clients, server boot drives, and read-intensive enterprise applications.

“With the HG6 series, customers can trust they are using a storage solution with high performance and power efficiency that is ideal for a wide range of applications,” said Don Jeanette, senior director of marketing at Toshiba storage products business unit.

“As inventors of NAND technology, we leverage our NAND expertise to optimise the performance and data integrity of this series, and truly give customers the power of choice with a broad selection of capacities and form factors.”

The HG6 range of SSDs will be released in March 2014, including 60, 128, 256 and 512GB capacities.
