A new campaign backed by a number of influential women in tech and business has launched to get students of all ages coding.
Hour of Code UK has been put together by Sherry Coutu CBE, chair of Founders4Schools; Joanna Shields OBE, chair of Tech City UK; Karen Price OBE, CEO of e-skills UK; and Avid Larizadeg, who runs code.org in the UK and is fonder of Boticca.com.
Hour of Code UK aims to create the biggest ever initiative to give students in primary and secondary schools and their parents the opportunity to experience coding for at least sixty minutes from March 3rd to 9th. The date marks the 25th anniversary of the creation of the World Wide Web by the UK’s ultimate coder, Tim Berners-Lee.
Schools, community groups, charities, and after-school clubs in the UK are all encouraged to participate in the Hour of Code UK by visiting uk.code.org.
