Samsung reveals UD970 and UD590 Ultra HD monitors

Samsung has showcased two new Ultra HD monitors.

The UD970 (pictured) is a 31.5-inch 4K monitor with an Ultra HD resolution of 3840 x 2160. The screen, which can display up to four inputs simultaneously using Quad Windows Picture-by-Picture (PBP), has a colour palette of 1.07 billion colours, which Samsung says gives a ‘”more natural expression” to images and videos. Dual Colour mode is also supported.

The monitor is framed with metal, and features HDMI, DVI-DL, USB 3.0 and two DisplayPort connections.

The display, which is yet to have a price or release date detailed, won one of the top Innovation Awards for Design and Engineering at CES 2014.

Joining the UD970 is its smaller brother, the UD590. The 28-inch screen shares its sibling’s 3840 x 2160 UHD resolution, with 1.078 billion colours providing “true-to-life picture quality”.

The monitor features Picture-in-Picture, PBP and gaming modes, and has two HDMI ports and a DisplayPort connection.

Like the UD970, the UD590 is yet to be detailed further.
