Three-in-one tablets and eight-inch business tablet among devices revealed

CES 2014: Over 15 new products from Lenovo, including ‘virtually indestructible’ ultrabook

Lenovo has unleashed a slew of brand new products on CES, with a carbon fibre ultrabook and eight-inch business tablet among the fresh devices.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is claimed to be the world’s lightest 14-inch ultrabook, constructed from carbon fibre and equipped with voice and gesture control. An added bonus is Lenovo’s statement that the X1 is “virtually indestructible”. The X1 will be released later this month, starting at $1,299 (£794).

Joining the X1 is the ThinkPad 8, an eight-inch tablet designed for business users. Made of aluminium, the device can connect to a keyboard and monitor in order to be used like a full-size PC.

As well as its ‘Tablet Mode’ and ‘Desktop Mode’, the 8 can also be set up into ‘Tent Mode’ by using the option Quickshot Cover as a stand.

The ThinkPad 8 is powered by an Intel Bay Trail quad-core processor, includes up to 128GB of storage capacity and runs on Windows 8 Pro. It will be released later this month, starting at $399 (£244).

The 14-inch Y40 and Z40 and 15.6-inch Y50 and Z50 laptops bolstered Lenovo’s notebook announcements. The Z-series machines will launch in March, beginning at $599 (£366), with the Y-series devices following in May, starting at $999 (£610).

Several other products were also revealed, including the all-in-one C560 home PC, available from February, 11 and 13-inch models of Lenovo’s Yoga 2 tablet, the former hitting retail in January and the latter in February, and the MIIX 2, a laptop with a detachable display which can operate in tablet, laptop or stand mode. The MIIX 2 will be available in 10 and 11-inch iterations, arriving in March and April respectively.
