Google has announced that it has partnered with the likes of Audi, Honda, Hyundai, GM and Nvidia to bring an Android-based system to cars.

By teaming up with a number of automotive companies, Google has formed the Open Automotive Alliance, which it says is designed to accelerate innovation in the sector.

Google will have to compete with Apple in the car-tech market. The company has been working with other automakers on integrating iOS devices with in-car technology.

Audi is set to showcase Android tech powered by Nvidia at CES this week.

Hyundai has unveiled that Google Glass will be able to operate some of the features of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis automobile.
