Belkin releases WeMo Switch for controlling Christmas lights

Sony gives away Christmas tree with smartphone-controlled lights

Sony has unveiled a Christmas tree that’s decorated with lights that users can control with their smartphone.

The Sony NFC Christmas Tree uses Near Field Communication and any NFC-compatible smartphone to change the colour of its lights.

There is also a portable NFC speaker hidden within the tree so users can play music.

The tree is currently not available to buy. Instead it can be won by taking part in a competition on the Sony Mobile UK Facebook page.

Belkin has also been getting in the festive spirit by releasing the WeMo Switch and WeMo Switch + Motion so users can control lights on their tree from their smartphone or tablet.
