Ingram Micro to distribute Payleven chip and PIN card readers

Mobile card payment provider Payleven has announced its card readers will be distributed by Ingram Micro across Europe.

The Chip & PIN card reader will be distributed in eight European markets: Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, the UK, Spain and Poland.

The Chip & PIN bluetooth card reader is a first in Ingram Micro’s distribution portfolio and the company says it’s "the most secure solution for mobile card payments on the market".

The Payleven card reader works by connecting via Bluetooth to an app on a smartphone or tablet. This gives small and medium-sized businesses, including PC stores, restaurant owners, shop assistants and more, the ability to accept debit or credit card payments on the go.

Payleven says it does not demand fixed costs, minimum sales or contract terms. 2.75 per cent is charged per successful transaction.

"We firmly believe in the great potential of mobile card payment through the use of Chip & PIN technology," said Ernesto Schmutter, Executive Director of International Business at Ingram Micro.

"We are pleased to contribute to the Europe-wide distribution of this technology by making Payleven’s card reader available across Europe."

Konstantin Wolff, founder and CEO of Payleven, added: "The fact that Ingram Micro is incorporating our Chip & PIN technology into its product portfolio is an important step for the mobile card payment business.

"Through this, the free availability of mPOS technology commercially will be significantly expanded, which will make it considerably easier for our customers to directly acquire Chip & PIN terminals at a dealer of their choice."
