Transformer Book Trio is a laptop, desktop and tablet all-in-one

ASUS shows off “world’s first” 3-in-1 PC

ASUS has presented the "world’s first" 3-in-1 laptop, desktop and tablet all-in-one computer at an event in Australia.

The Transformer Book Trio is a laptop, tablet and desktop PC all-in-one. The keyboard base can be connected to the tablet to transform the unit into a laptop, or the tablet can be removed and the keyboard base can connect to an external monitor to turn it into a desktop PC.

The keyboard base has its own Windows OS, Intel CPU and SSD storage, reports ItWire.com, while the tablet is Android-powered. A button can be pressed to switch between Windows and Android.

ASUS will launch the Transformer Book Trio in Australia in November for $1,599AUD.

A 2-in-1 T100 was also presented, boasting an increase in battery life and double the graphics performance from the previous generation, while new ASUS Zen ultrabook products were shown off which can switch on in less than three seconds.

Vivian Hung, the Australian MD of ASUS, said she wants to "transform expectations" with the 3-in-1 and that computers have become much more personal and portable.
