Toys include three-inch figures, animal figures and papercraft sets

New Minecraft toys to hit retail

A new range of Minecraft toys based on the ultra-popular game are set to hit retail.

The 2009 game has recently expanded from the PC onto Xbox 360 and has become an app, with PS4 and Xbox One releases confirmed. Minecraft has sold over 24 million copies, and is the number one search term on Google, ahead of Lego, Star Wars and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The new line of toys based on the game includes three-inch articulated figures of the player character ‘Steve’ and enemy ‘Creepers’, ‘Zombies’ and ‘Enderman’. Each comes with an accessory; Steve in possession of a pickaxe and mined building block.

For those looking to populate their world with something other than Minecraft nasties, the ‘Animal Mobs’ set includes seven-inch soft toys of ‘Baby Mooshrooms’ and ‘Baby Pigs’.

Joining the figures are papercraft sets based on the game, including ‘Utility’, ‘Hostile’ and ‘Animal’ mobs, as well as ‘Shelter’, ‘Minecraft’ and ‘Snow’ biome packs. The paper models can be folded into the recognisable block-based forms of the game, and can populate the paper craft ‘Overworld’ set, which has over 200 pieces including ‘Diamond Steve’, ‘Creeper’, a pig and other blocks and accessories, including ‘Minecraft Mortar Tape’ and a storage chest.

The toys can be preordered now from distributor Character Options, in time for a launch at the end of October.
