AMD confirms Radeon R7/R9 graphics card prices, specs and release dates

AMD has revealed the specs, prices and release dates for the majority of its new Radeon R7 and R9 graphics cards in the US.

The entry-level R7 240 card will be priced at $69, moving up to $89 for the R7 250 and $139 for the R7 260X. The R9 270X will cost $199 for a 2GB model and $229 for a 4GB version, while the R9 280X will be priced at $299.

All these graphics cards will launch this Friday in the US (October 11th). Specific details on the top-end R9 290X and R9 290 cards are yet to be revealed.

"Built on GCN architecture, AMD Radeon R7 Series GPUs are designed to deliver optimal performance and quality for users looking to enhance the graphics performance of their PCs," said Matt Skynner, corporate vice president and general manager, Graphics Business Unit, AMD. "We have winning products at every price point and AMD is proud to be able to deliver affordable hardware designed for performance to suit the needs of every gamer."

"And with our new line of R9 Series graphics cards, tailor-made to perform with the next generation of PC games, AMD has proved that Radeon is gaming."

Chip maker AMD previously announced the products last month – and it’s rumoured rival Nvidia will lower the price of its GTX Titan and 780 graphics cards to compete with AMD.
