iOS 7 is the fastest software upgrade in history

Apple sells 9m iPhones in three days

Apple has sold a record-breaking nine million iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C devices in the first weekend of their launch.

While some tech sites having reported a lukewarm reception to Apple’s latest iPhones, it seems consumers didn’t quite get the memo, with the demand for iPhone 5S exceeding the initial supply.

“This is our best iPhone launch yet – more than nine million new iPhones sold – a new record for first weekend sales,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

As well as the sales news, Apple also revealed that more than 200 million iOS devices are now running iOS 7, making it the fastest software upgrade in history.

Although all this is good news for Apple, the new devices and iOS have both had issues. It was discovered last week that it’s possible to bypass a passcode-locked iPhone by using iOS 7’s new ‘Control Centre’ from the lock screen.

Also, over the weekend German hacker team Chaos Computer Club posted a video showing how to fool the iPhone 5S’s fingerprint sensor.
